How I Read Tarot

A note on channeling, honesty, and the middle path

How to read tarot like you, channeling, finding your own voice

People often ask me how I read tarot — not just what cards I use, but what’s actually happening in the space of a reading. I understand the curiosity. Tarot can look mysterious from the outside, and when something resonates deeply, it’s natural to want to understand why.

This post isn’t meant to teach you how to read tarot “the right way.” There is no single right way. Instead, this is an honest description of how I work, what I’m listening for, and why this approach matters to me.

If you’re drawn to my readings, my hope is that this helps you understand the orientation behind them — and perhaps offers a pathway you can explore in your own way, whether or not tarot is part of that journey.

Tarot as a point of departure, not a destination

I use tarot cards as a starting point, not a script.

The cards have traditional meanings — upright and reversed — and I respect those definitions. They give structure and language. But for me, the cards are not the authority. They’re an entry point into a larger conversation with energy, experience, and awareness.

When I sit down to read, I’m not trying to “be accurate” in a technical sense. I’m not trying to prove psychic ability or perform certainty. What I’m doing instead is entering a flow state — listening carefully, responding honestly, and staying present with what’s arising.

The cards open the door. What matters is what happens after that.

Channeling, flow, and resonance

Some people are drawn to the channeling aspect of my work — the sense of flow, the way messages seem to arrive organically rather than being forced. I understand that pull. Flow state is a powerful experience.

But channeling, as I understand it, isn’t about becoming something other than myself or accessing special information. It’s about getting out of my own way enough to listen clearly — without agenda, without fear-based storytelling, and without trying to control the outcome.

Resonance matters more to me than prediction.

If something resonates, it has value. If it doesn’t, it’s meant to be left behind. Tarot, in my view, is not about telling you who you are or what will happen to you. It’s about offering reflections that help you understand yourself more clearly right now.

Why honesty matters more than positivity

One of the reasons people often tell me my readings feel grounding is because I’m willing to explore uncomfortable territory — including in myself.

I don’t believe in spiritual bypassing. I also don’t believe in fear-based messaging.

There is a middle path.

For me, accuracy doesn’t come from psychic prowess; it comes from self-honesty. I’ve spent a lot of time meeting myself in difficult places — confusion, contradiction, fear, grief, and not knowing. I don’t rush to smooth those edges or wrap them in false optimism.

At the same time, I’m not interested in doom, drama, or reinforcing fear. My goal is always to ask:

What are the energies present, and how can we work with them in a way that supports growth, clarity, and well-being?

Every reading is held under the umbrella of highest and greatest good, not because that sounds nice, but because intention matters. I’m not here to push an agenda or create dependence. I’m here to explore what’s workable.

Tarot as a mirror for self-understanding

Even when I speak about situations, relationships, or “others,” the core of the reading is always about self-reflection.

I often say some version of this in my readings:

I hope this finds you happy, healthy, and enjoying your journey to becoming more and more yourself.

That isn’t a tagline. It’s the heart of the work.

Tarot, for me, is a way to understand my own path — who I am, where I am, and how to navigate uncertainty with integrity. When I read for others, I’m offering that same orientation, not a one-size-fits-all answer.

You are the author of your life. Tarot doesn’t replace that authorship; it supports it.

How I learned (and why starting mattered more than readiness)

I didn’t wait until I felt fully “tuned in” to begin.

After learning the basic definitions of tarot, I started reading. I knew I wasn’t finished learning — and I still am not. But clarity doesn’t come from waiting. It comes from engagement.

Voice develops through use. Discernment develops through practice. Confidence develops through relationship with yourself, not through perfection.

If you’re drawn to tarot or intuitive work, the most important step isn’t mastery — it’s honesty. Being willing to sit with yourself, to notice what arises, and to stay present even when things are unclear.

That willingness changes everything.

If you’re drawn to this work for yourself

People sometimes ask me what they should do next if they want more of what they experience in these readings.

My answer is simple:

  • Learn the language (tarot, intuition, somatic awareness — whatever calls to you)

  • Be honest with yourself

  • Stay curious

  • Avoid fear-based narratives

  • Let practice teach you

You don’t need to sound like me, read like me, or follow my path. Your voice will emerge through your own experience — just as mine did.

Tarot isn’t about becoming someone else. It’s about becoming more yourself.

And if these readings support you along that path, I’m glad to walk with you for a while.
